Grammy Excitement: Can You Participate?

December 03, 2024 EST

Most award shows are spectator events.  Fans can watch the action but may not be able to participate or benefit from the outcome.  However, the MUSQ Global Music Industry Index ETF (MUSQ) may allow music fans to participate in and benefit from the upcoming Grammy Awards.

Grammy Excitement

The Grammy Awards, often dubbed ‘Music’s Biggest Night,’ is scheduled for Sunday, February 2, 2025, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, CA.  Given the number of female nominees, 2025’s awards ceremony is also being referred to as the “Year of the Woman.”[1]

Beyonce Record-Breaking Nominations

Beyonce has been nominated for 11 awards at 2025’s event.  This includes the coveted “Album of the Year” award.  She has received nominations in the country music and American roots categories, a first for a Black woman.  Seven songs from her ‘Cowboy Carter’ album are nominated for awards across four genres.  This is the first time a Black woman has been nominated for “Country Music Album of the Year.”

With 2025’s nominations, Beyonce has now received the most Grammy nominations of all time – 99 – with 32 awards.

Year of the Women

Beyonce is one of five powerhouse women nominated three of Grammy’s top categories – record, song, and album of the year.  The others are Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Chappel Roan, and Sabrina Carpenter.

Can Fans Join the Excitement?

The MUSQ ETF may provide individuals with a way to participate in and benefit from the results of the Grammys.

Let’s look at Beyonce as an example.

MUSQ invests in companies from several major segments of the global music industry.

Music Content & Distribution

Many of today’s top artists record and distribute their music through one of three major music companies – Sony Music Group, Universal Music, or Warner Music Group.

Beyonce’s record label is part of Sony Music Group.

Music Streaming

Streaming has become the dominant means through which fans consume music.

Beyonce’s music is widely streamed on most platforms.  Her Cowboy Carter album was the most streamed album in a single day during 2024.  One of its singles, ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’ was streamed over 200 million times before the album was released.[2]

Live Music & Ticketing

Beyonce’s Renaissance tour was one of the highest-grossing tours of 2023.  The concert pulled in $570 million, making it one of the highest-grossing tours by a female artist and highest-grossing tours overall.[3]

Get a Front Row Seat

MUSQ may provide fans with a front row seat to the music global industry.

The fund aims to invest in companies that are part of the global music industry.

MUSQ may help you to participate in the excitement of the music industry instead of just being a passive spectator.

Risk Disclosures

There is no guarantee the Fund will achieve its stated objectives.

In addition to the normal risks associated with investing, international investments may involve the risk of capital loss from unfavorable fluctuation in currency values, differences in generally accepted accounting principles or social, economic or political instability in other nations.

Emerging markets involve heightened risks related to the same factors as well as increased volatility and lower trading volume.

In addition to the normal risks associated with investing, investments in small- or mid-capitalization companies typically exhibit higher volatility.

The Fund’s concentration in an industry or sector can increase the impact of, and potential losses associated with, the risks from investing in those industries/sectors.

The Fund is non-diversified.

The Fund is new and has a limited operating history for investors to evaluate. A new and smaller fund may not attract sufficient assets to achieve investment and trading efficiencies.

The Fund may invest in securities denominated in foreign currencies. Because the Fund's NAV is determined in U.S. dollars, the Fund's NAV could decline if currencies of the underlying securities depreciate against the U.S. dollar or if there are delays or limits on repatriation of such currencies. Currency exchange rates can be very volatile and can change quickly and unpredictably.

All investing involves risk, and asset allocation and diversification do not guarantee a profit or protection against a loss. The investment return and principal value of an investment will fluctuate so that an investor’s shares, when redeemed, might be worth more or less than their original cost. ETFs are subject to risks similar to those of stocks, as well as other risks specific to the particular ETF.

ETF shares are traded on exchanges, and are traded and priced throughout the trading day. ETFs permit an investor to purchase a selling interest in a portfolio of stocks throughout the trading day. Because ETFs trade on an exchange, ETF shares are bought and sold at market price (not NAV). The prices of ETFs may sometimes vary significantly from the NAVs of a ETFs’ underlying securities. Brokerage commissions will reduce returns.
